Professional photoshoots in Linz start from €279. Packages vary by duration and the number of edited photos — an hour on the Hauptplatz and the Danube promenade, which are two streets apart, or two hours that add the Pöstlingberg. Most couples book 60 to 90 minutes; the Pöstlingbergbahn takes about twenty minutes each way from the Hauptplatz, so the hill needs the longer option.

The Hauptplatz is the set piece — 13,000 square metres of open stone, pastel baroque façades and the white Trinity Column in the middle. Two streets north the Danube gives the promenade, the Nibelungenbrücke and the Ars Electronica façade, which turns to colour at dusk. Above it all, the Pöstlingberg carries its twin-towered basilica and a terrace that sees the whole city, with the old tram climbing to it.

The Hauptplatz is emptiest in the first two hours after sunrise and its façades take that low light well; by mid-morning the trams and the market are in every frame. The riverfront belongs to dusk, when the Ars Electronica skin comes on. April to October is the terrace and river season; from late November the Christmas markets light the square and the Pöstlingberg, and winter fog often fills the valley below the basilica.

The Pöstlingbergbahn leaves from the Hauptplatz and takes about twenty minutes to the top, running all day at regular intervals; there is also a road and a car park just below the summit. The basilica is a working pilgrimage church, free to enter outside services, and photography inside is at the parish's discretion — check the current times and conditions, and expect the terrace to be busy in the Christmas market weeks.

For peak dates — Saturdays from May to September, and September weekends in the wine regions — book six to twelve months ahead. The best-reviewed photographers usually sell out right after the venue does. Weekdays and the shoulder months are far more flexible, and three to four months is normally comfortable. A winter wedding in the mountains is its own calendar: the weeks around Christmas and New Year go early, February is easier. When comparing, ask to see a full wedding gallery rather than portfolio highlights; how someone handles a dim baroque church tells you more than their best ten frames.

Work backwards from the moments you cannot lose. An intimate ceremony with dinner fits into four or five hours: preparations, vows, couple portraits at golden hour, the first speeches. A classic full day, from getting ready to the first dances, runs eight to ten. Two Austrian specifics matter here. In June the sun sets around nine in the evening, so couple portraits belong in that late window rather than straight after the ceremony. And the traditional late programme — the midnight snack, the stealing of the bride, the dancing that keeps going — happens long after many contracts end, so decide in advance whether you want it covered or are at peace with a set finishing time. Your photographer will recommend honest hours, not maximum hours.
