The castle is a working venue with weddings and events, so parts of it close at short notice, and it sets its own rules on tripods and larger productions. Coordinate, do not match. Muted solid colours — cream, forest green, rust, deep blue — sit beautifully against Vienna's pale stone, the green of a Tyrolean meadow and the turquoise of an Austrian lake. Skip loud patterns and big logos. Footwear matters more here than in most countries: Hallstatt and Salzburg are all cobbles and steps, and any mountain spot means an uneven path. In winter, dress for real cold and bring the coat you actually like being seen in, because it will be in every frame; add gloves and a hat you can take off for a few shots.
